This Hungarian town is the centre of the Zala district. The town was founded over 750 years ago, and now it has a population of 55,000. The partnership with Zalaegerszeg has been the longest - it started as far back as the 1960s.

The two towns signed an agreement in August 1992. Areas of cooperation include business, culture, education, and tourism.
